Enrolling your child in an International Baccalaureate program will require you to understand the various programs which will help your child grow on a personal and professional level. To mark a milestone in each child’s education, there are two programmes, which include various academic and personal growth meters.

To understand how these programmes help in the development of the child, you need to understand what these are and how they function.

Primary Years Programme (PYP) is a curriculum framework designed for students aged 3 to 12. The programme’s transdisciplinary framework also focuses on the overall development of the child as an inquirer, both at school and beyond. This programme places more emphasis on inquiry-based learning.
By choosing to implement the PYP (Primary year Programme) schools, as well as students, will have a strong foundation to their growth. Students will develop academic, social and emotional well-being by international mindedness and strong personal values. Simultaneous efforts are also made to polish the independent learning skills and encouraging them to take every challenge to come their way positively.

The programme includes local and global issues into the curriculum, asking students to look at six related, transdisciplinary themes and to connect the links between them. The themes include ‘who we are’, ‘where we are in place and time’ and ‘how the world works’.

The PYP delivers excellent results for students aged 3 to 12. For example:

A PYP student outperformed a non-IB student in mathematics, reading and writing in a global International Schools’ Assessment study that ran from 2009-2011

A 2014 national study in Australia found that students in the PYP perform better than the national average in nationwide science tests

Taking on the PYP is a path of discovery for schools. The PYP invigorates learning and teaching and transforms school community and culture. Watch this video to see two schools on their journey.

Middle Year Programme (MYP)
The middle year programme (MYP) is a challenging framework that encourages students to form possible connections and a reasonable balance between their studies and the real world. Compared to PYP, MYP is a five-year programme and can be implemented in a partnership between two schools. Students who undergo MYP are fully ready for the IB school curriculum.
MYP curriculum framework comprises of eight subjects in groups, providing a broad and balanced education for the early adolescents.

The programme requires atleast 50 hours of teaching time for a single subject group, in an individual programme. in the last two years, the program allows students to meet all the local requirements and other learning goals.

The MYP aims to develop active learners and internationally minded young people who can empathise with others and pursue lives of purpose and meaning.
The programme empowers students to inquire into a wide range of issues and ideas of significance locally, nationally and globally. The result is young people who are creative, critical and reflective thinkers.

Students participating in the MYP build confidence in managing their learning,
learn by doing, connecting the classroom to the larger world
outperform non-IB students in critical academic skills, consistently have greater success. Thrive in positive school cultures where they are engaged and motivated to excel and develop an understanding of global challenges and a commitment to act as responsible citizens.

The MYP was revised in September 2014 to provide a more rigorous and highly flexible framework that powerfully integrates with local educational requirements. New industry-leading onscreen examinations and ePortfolios offer exciting opportunities for reliable, robust digital assessment of student achievement.

If you also wish to enroll your child in IB middle year programme and IB primary year programme and, then opt for Mount Litera School International (MLSI). They provide the students with a safe and secure environment required for the overall growth of the child. For more details, log into, MSI's official website.
